Fibreglass reinforced plastic (FRP) is a composite material made from a thermosetting plastic resin reinforced with fine glass fibres.
By selecting the right combination of glass fibre reinforcement, resin and additives, FRP grating can be used in the most demanding decking, boardwalk and paver support applications.
FRP moulded grating panels are made from interwoven high-strength glass roving embedded in a thermoset resin matrix to form a one-piece structural panel that offers excellent bi-directional strength and one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any material.
Food processing, beverages, chemical processing, water and wastewater treatment, metal refining, pulp/paper, transport, pharmaceuticals, textiles, oil/gas and mining/smelting/refining.
Lightweight - only 1/4 the weight of steel and 1/3 the weight of aluminium
High strength - tensile, compressive and flexural strengths similar to steel
High impact resistance - springs back when deflected
Bonds to gravel surfaces for excellent slip resistance
Long service life - typically over 25 years
High fire resistance, low flame spread index and low toxic fumes due to selected resins and fillers
Highly resistant to corrosive chemicals
Non-conductive, but conductive surfaces are available as an option
Unaffected by marine environments and prolonged exposure to moisture
Uniform colour and appearance
Easily fabricated and/or reconditioned in the fiel
